Very Happy New Year - & - Don't go out-of-luck

‘m alive :) - got busy in trying to read C++ & STL, wil send links to good ones later

Wish you a Very Happy New Year

No images in this blog post - less bloating! :P

IF you thought, I had some good posts for your here, this year…
THEN ...

Here is a small extract from a very-good film, that I would want you to read today! :), yes mandatory :)

Film: The Matador - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matador - (Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear, Hope Davis, Philip Baker Hall)

Julian (Pierce Brosnan, the James Bond 007 guy), a hitman, who kills for living?, etc.
Danny, a luckless-salesman, who looses his son in an accident? & is mostly jobless?, etc.

Julian & Danny become friends at a bar

Later, one night, Danny asks Julian, a favour to kill Danny's competitor so that his job becomes secure or something, to which Julian tells the below to the luckless-Danny:

--- not exact words - take the intent ---
... "You are tired working all whole day, and actually, all the luck in the world is with you right now, and your entire life you think that you are not lucky, belive me, you dont want me to do what you asked for, though others would have done so, because once I kill your competitor, you would become out-of-luck, and each day later you will curse yourself why you did that, that day, your entire life" ...
--- not exact words - take the intent ---

In simple, dont go out-of-luck... just because this is last-day of this year, or whatever, or whenever later in the new year – & don’t forget the story - dont go out-of-luck :)

ELSE

...
:) – – u shud have posted comments to me already by now – oh! watever.. - :):):)

END IF

good day!!!

Cheapest Internet

.
Details as of 1st Nov 2010 < This link might be updated periodically later again >

Mobile Internet (GPRS/2G/EDGE) (prepaid) is..

cheapest at:

Airtel &
Aircel

For example, at the above airtel link, u can see below recharge options:

Charge / Usage / Validity Time
24 Rs / 200 MB / 5 days
25 Rs / 25 MB / 30 days
28 Rs / 15 MB / 7 days (Post Free Usage: 30paise / 50KB from main account)
51 Rs / ?? MB / 15 days
98 Rs / 2 G.B / 30 days (better option)
250 Rs / 8 G.B / 90 days (best option)

For example:
> I use max of 200-300MB in general, all Software downloads, Windows updates, anti-virus updates, daily browsing, text & picture downloads (not a lot of video browsing), etc. Also it is almost impossible to use up all the 2 GB in 30 days, for the speed is low in day time
> In 98 Rs plan, u don't really need to care download-usage
> In 250 Rs plan, u don't really need to care download-usage/validity time for next recharge
> Don't recharge too less MB, because you may run out of it, and u will be charged very high (??? but yes, like bill could come to 600 Rs :) as i have seen for one of my friend)

TATA docomo has not so good plans
BSNL site has no 2G plans at all (just 1p / 10kb) (site is not updated since ages, shows even cheaper however its wrong, called customer care and checked
Tataindicom is no cheap (10p / 10kb)

Browsing:
You can browse Internet thru:
> Mobile
OR
> Computer/PC/Laptop - by connecting your mobile, in a USB port (it's a small hardware/small opening on the PC/Laptop, its almost always present) of your computer (sure about Airtel & Aircel connections)

Comes at a cost:
This cheapest Internet comes at another cost, because it is normally slow (2kbps/3kbps), for something to download it could take more time than on connections which are little faster (say, 8Kbps), so time taken for some download take more time, hence more electricity is used.

Best usage:
> if you use Internet occasionally, so don't want to spend a lot money
> occasionally, to download a little bigger downloads, put it in late night (after 12pm), or, early morning (before 7am), even your Windows updates, Anti-virus updates, etc. gets done faster
> Use Opera browser for browsing Internet, this basically speeds up the browsing with its "Opera Turbo" technology, for example, when downloading an image of 100KB, it resizes the image to a low-quality image, then downloads to your system, for example, just 20KB may be downloaded, and then shows it to you, mostly your eye may not recognize the difference
> If you anyway spend a lot of time on computer (without any video chatting), then what you loose, just connect to Internet, and do you work, play games, etc. The Windows downloads, anti-virus updates, they utilize your Internet connection in idle time, else start a download, for example, Opera's download manager. When you are done, pause/stop the download, shutdown your computer. Next time you start computer, you can resume, previously paused/stopped downloads. Or, just connect Internet, and browse in Opera anytime. For this unlimited Internet is good, for example, Airtel's 98 Rs (1 month) or 250 Rs (3 month) plan.

Off topic:
If you need high speed (in Mobile), you shud consider 3G mobile Internet, where u can video mobile call someone. BSNL has it, its coming in Tata DoCoMo.

. This is open office from ORACLE/SUN Company

Microsoft Office (Home and Student) 2007 at just 2190 Rs, with free upgrade to Microsoft Office (Home and Student) 2010

Product: Office (Home and Student) 2007
Price: Rs. 2,190.00 only

Features:

- Pretty cheap, in other places, same Office Home and Student 2007 is about $149.95 (around RS 7497.5, if 1$ = 50Rs) as stated at: http://office2010.microsoft.com/en-us/buy/
Surely price is not going to be long – I think they are doing this because Office 2010 would come soon & they want to sell 2007 off the stores as many as possible. As per 2010 & 2007 version it does not matter much both can read write .doc & .docx formats which is for example used to build a resume. Fortunately you there is an option to upgrade from 2007 to 2010 for free!

- 1 license allows for installation on as many as 3 computers

- Has Word 2007, Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007, and OneNote 2007

- Outlook 2007 is not present

- If urs is 64 bit (instead of 32 bit) Windows, some options are not there

- To get Free upgrade to "Office Home and Student 2010":

- Eligible Office 2007 software must be purchased (from Microsoft or an authorized reseller) and activated between March 5, 2010, and September 30, 2010
- To activate your new product key: Launch the product and click Options > Resources > Activate my product.

- Request your Office 2010 product by October 31, 2010, using your activated "Office 2007 Product Key" and "Office 2007 dated sales receipt"

- Internet access is required in order to verify eligibility and to request the Office 2010

- You will receive an e-mail message from us letting you know when your Office 2010 product is available

- One Office 2010 product per qualifying Office 2007 purchase, limit twenty-five per person.

Sources: http://www.microsoftstore.co.in/microsoft/90/product/Office-Home-and-Student-2007.aspx

This means, nearly 4 months are there to buy & activate this product once, also a month more to get 2010 version

I think this is good option to buy, even better than buying Windows OS which will only get updates for a certain time, but office is like can-say forever

I think MS Office can work on Nokia E series too! This would mean you can work on same document from mobile and PC!

I was seeing for this small figure price since very long time, I even gave the price feedback to be near 2000Rs for Indian market to MS while filing bugs on 2010 office, dint expect would come true

Think of 1 license being used in 3 computers, for example, 3 guys buying one office product, i.e; 2190/3 = 730 Rs, this is like, for each guy, buying a relatively good shirt but for a life time! Sure you don’t need to run for software just to create a resume that would increase ur salary in lacs! with just a product less than a thousand. This way you can contribute to MS too, for building the super cool Windows 7 & Office 2010 like software.

Download Opera Web Browser...

My favorite, really a productive Web browser.

You can do all these:
# You can book mark a website (may be a 1000 websites) in your home, and access them anywhere in the world!, thru Opera-Link! (nothing to carry at all! no need to remember 1000 websites, nor no paper writing required!)
# You can speed up you Web browsing about 2 to 3 times!!! thru Opera-Turbo. This would mean you can really do smart-fast browsing all you want in no time!!! even with your very slow Internet connection! The images and all are compressed at Opera site and gives you blasting speed! that you can image!!!
# Now that browser has Tabbed browsing, yeah small tabs that you can see on top, with a small close button to each, and each tab can load a different page, use Ctrl + Click, i.e; while clicking the mouse on a website link on a page, press you Ctrl button on the left bottom, so that you can open that website clicked in a new tab!, yeah so what when you have opened a 100 tabs? you can read and if you want to close 20 tabs and rest 80 you want to check them later, may be tomorrow? Ok,here it is! With Opera-Mouse-Gestures you can "just" move you hand while pressing the Right-button of your mouse, in an "L" shape! thats all!!! you tab is closed! you dont need to go all the way up to the X button to close it! just gesture it with your mouse and thats all! There are many-many gestures like that to minimize, etc. of a tab.

And when you are in a hurry just close the Window with X on the right-top of the screen (which is optional), And Shutdown the computer. When you reopen the Opera browser tomorrow, it pops up if you wan to open yesterday's (last browsing) session. Say OK, and you are at your place!

#
All this and more, for free!!!

Download Opera by clicking the below link:

My favorite web browser too!!!

Opera, the fastest and most secure web browser, http://www.opera.com/download/
