Open Office . Org
. This is a client version, which means; you download to your computer & install the application on your computer, one time
. It’s FREE for personal use
. This is open office from ORACLE/SUN Company
. This has open document formats correlating to Microsoft’s Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. as below:
. Writer - word processor similar to Microsoft Word and WordPerfect
. Calc - spreadsheet similar to Microsoft Excel and Lotus 1-2-3
. Impress - presentation program similar to Microsoft PowerPoint and Apple Keynote
. Base - database management program similar to Microsoft Access
. Draw - vector graphics editor comparable in features to early versions of CorelDRAW
. Math - tool for creating and editing mathematical formulae, similar to Microsoft Equation Editor
. Reads & writes most Microsoft Office documents (like .doc, .docx format, .xls, etc.)
. For now, this is not so sophisticated like Microsoft Office 2010 or even Microsoft Office 2007
. If you are against software piracy & feel that Microsoft Office is too costly, this is a very good alternative for now
