3G

3G (3rd Generation of cellular wireless standards)
3G is all about fast internet speed
3G system must allow simultaneous use of speech and data services, and should provide peak data rates of at least 200 kbit/s, according to the IMT-2000 specification

3G Standards
> UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) standardized by 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) which specifies standards for 3G technology based on evolved Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) specifications
> CDMA2000 system standardized by 3GPP2 (3rd Generation Partnership Project 2) which specifies standards for 3G technology based on IS-95 (CDMA), commonly known as CDMA2000.

3 G phone (3GPP family) types Downlink data rates Uplink data rates
3G W-CDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) 384 kbps 384 kbps
3G HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) (3.5G, 3G+, turbo 3G, enhanced 3G) (3GPP Release 5) 0.9 Mbit/s to 14.4 Mbit/s 0.73 Mbit/s to 5.76 Mbit/s
Evolved HSPA (aka. HSPA+) (3GPP Release 7) 17.6 Mbit/s to 42.2 Mbit/s 11.5 Mbit/s
Dual-Cell HSDPA (3GPP Release 8) 23.4 Mbit/s to 42.2 Mbit/s 11.5 Mbit/s
DC-HSDPA w/MIMO (3GPP Release 9) 46.7 Mbit/s to 84.4 Mbit/s 23 Mbit/s

Buy a HSPA 3G phone/datacard (instead of W-CDMA 3G phone/datacard)...
